Introduction

Shyaonti Talwar works as an Assistant Professor of English in a college of Gokhale Education Society affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, Maharashtra, India. Besides being a teacher of English Literature for students pursuing their BA and MA in English Literature, she is a professionally qualified English Language Teacher, Trainer and Educator. She is associated with several organisations and universities in different capacities as a resource person, ELT consultant, subject expert, mentor, materials writer and curriculum planner.

She has trained extensively across India for British Council Connecting Classrooms conducting principal and teacher training workshops on 21st century core skills that include Critical Thinking, Creativity and Communication, Student Leadership and Digital Literacy. She is a senior presenter of Cambridge English Assessment, a division of the University of Cambridge UK and conducts Teacher Support Programmes (TSP) and principal and coordinator seminars on Cambridge English Exams and other areas of ELT that include Lesson Planning, Classroom Management, Assessment, Language Skills, etc. in India and other South Asian countries like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. She is also a mentor and trains, monitors and evaluates presenters for Cambridge Assessment English.

Shyaonti does a lot of work in the buffer zones of tiger reserves for Wildlife Conservation Trust training government teachers in pedagogy and language enhancement. She is also associated with and has delivered several customised programmes for the corporate sector in the past. Shyaonti's current areas of research interest include Gender Studies, Postcolonialsim, Culture Studies and ELLT. Shyaonti is trained in the Indian classical dance form of Kathak and has creative interests as a poet and a performer.
